Third Graders Learn About the Four Forces of Flight

11/8/2018

The students learned about the position and motion of objects as they gain an understanding of the four forces of flight. They conducted various experiments to explore the forces of lift, thrust, drag and weight. Through experimentation students understood the role of Bernoulli’s principle and Newton’s laws in explaining flight. The students concluded that design plays an important role in successful flights.
The students engaged in engineering design process as they built a model of the Voyager while studying the journey of the two Voyagers in space and the valuable data they have been sending back to us. They are currently exploring the different designs of paper planes.
