Third Graders Study Rocks and Earth Dynamics

Third graders have been busy learning about rocks for the past few weeks. The students studied the different types of rocks and their properties.
Students used testing tools to record the hardness of rocks on Mohs hardness scale. They played rock detectives while trying to identify the mystery rocks. They used their observation skills and the testing tools to identify the rocks.
Students are currently exploring the dynamics of our planet Earth. They will be learning about Earth’s structure, volcanoes, tectonic plates, earthquakes etc. They are building a working model of a volcano and learning about chemical reactions in the process.
