Third grade students are studying structure of life. They delved into an assortment of fruits while doing their seed investigation to find out the location, properties and size of the seeds. They did the seed soak experiment where they carefully analyzed the collected data. They planted red kidney beans and are observing and recording it’s growth to understand the life cycle of a plant. The students learned about various methods of seed dispersion. They then designed and build a wind dispersed seed structure. They tested their design and measured the distance traveled. The students are now studying the structure and behavior of crayfish.
First grade students learned about the various types of weather. They became familiar with the weather symbols and played memory games using those symbols.
Students have been recording the weather. They looked at the weather conditions from our upper school weather station using the link https://owc.enterprise.earthnetworks.com/OnlineWeatherCenter.aspx?aid=6603 and recorded the outdoor and indoor temperatures at our campus.
They used this data to compare the weather conditions using a bar graph. They learned how to read and create a bar graph.
Students are learning both Fahrenheit and Celsius temperature scales. They conducted a hot to cold investigation. They were introduced to the terms - room temperature, body temperature, freezing point and boiling point.
The students used the Tellagami app to record their weather report.
They made a wind sock as they learned about wind, its speed and direction and tested it. They will be learning about the water cycle and extreme weather in the coming weeks.
